Night Exposure!

This was a really fun project I did tonight with my dad's recently redone John Deere 110 Round Fender tractor! Through many prolonged exposures and the use of a flashlight and lots of post processing, I was able to create the above picture! There are a few things I would have done differently looking back, but for my first time, I'm definitely pleased with the way it turned out!

The process:

First I set up the whole scene during the late evening, just before dark.
I grabbed a quick picture of the sunset and then waited for it do get darker.
Once it was dark enough I began taking long exposure pictures(4 sec.(100 ISO & 6.3 f-stops)). During the exposure time I waved the flashlight around on certain areas, gradually lighting up the whole scene.

After I had all the pictures taken it was time for the post processing. This just takes a lot of adding layers and erasing unwanted parts of those layers. For the process I used Gimp, but any photoshop-like program should work. In the end, I came up with the original picture!

I had so much fun doing this and can't wait to do it again some time!
Thanks for reading! Until next time!(:

Interesting Focal Points. . .

It's fun finding interesting focal points, or highlighting a very specific area of a picture with your focal point!
Here are a few pictures I took while experimenting with focal points(: Hope you like them!

Mustang GT Photoshoot!

Took a bunch of pictures of specifically round objects on my dad's Mustang GT today!
It's really cool to take a series of "themed" pictures!
And it looks even cooler when you put them all together in a collage!(:
Let me know what you guys think!
Until next time!(:

Fire and Water

So, we built a fire the other day, and when it got really huge, there were two things we needed: one was water, cause it was kinda singeing our grass.... and the other was my camera! :) I hope you like these pictures!  Thanks for reading! Until next time! :)

Dodge Viper Model Car Build!

Well, I finally got pictures of that Dodge Viper that I actually finished before the Superbird.
This one is definitely not my best work(save the interior and engine). But we live and we learn!
I painted it gloss black(which is a really hard color to spray paint may I just say! I'd suggest getting LOTS of practice before painting an actual car.) I actually stripped the paint twice I think before finishing it, and it still didn't turn out very well... The inside I painted a mix of gloss, flat, and semi-gloss black and gloss blue. Same colors for the engine. Well, here are some more pictures! Let me know what you think!

Haven't entered this one in a contest, and don't think I will be unless I don't have another one to enter by the time one comes around. But, if I do, I'll let you know! You can see all of the pictures from this photo shoot on my facebook page(click here)! Until next time! :)

Update!

Black and White:

Still on the B&W craze! A lot of people don't like monotonal photography, but I find it extremely fascinating, not to mention the exciting challenge of finding a picture perfect for the B&W setting!

Picture of my favorite bird during my second favorite season!
I love Cardinals in the snow! I can't wait to get my telephoto lens
to get closer to nature while not scaring them by staying in my house!
This is already cropped to about the point of pixelating...
I brought out the red of the Cardinal by making the background B&W!

Here's a fence and a bird feeder. The feeder has a bit extra of post processing than most to give it an even better rustic effect!

"Dreamworld":

Well, I just got the April issue of "Digital Photo Magazine" a couple of days ago, and there was this really interesting section on a photographer by the name of Ann Elliott Cutting(www.cutting.com) who mainly works with album covers and advertising. She shared pictures of one of her interest which she loves to do. She says she loves capturing the aspect of something out of this world and something that follows the human journey through her photography and post-processing. After seeing her stunning pictures I new I had to try it! Sadly, the article didn't explain how she accomplished the effect of her pictures, but, I chose one of my old sunset pictures and messed around with post-processing for a little bit. With a lot of editing and a little bit of my own twist I came up with the above product! I have to say I like hers better, but I think mine turned out good too! :)

Well, let me know what you think of this pictures! As always, you can stay updated with all of my pictures on my facebook page(click here)! Unfortunately, I haven't been doing anything with model cars lately, but I hope to be doing more of that soon! Until next time! :)

Black and White!

Lately I've been really fascinated with the world of Black & White! It really is a lot of fun taking pictures you intend to turn to black & white later, or even deciding after the fact. After getting the February issue of Digital Photo Magazine, which featured a Black & White special, I became very interested in the subject!

I used to think that B&W was merely a form of photography to be used in moderation, only when the situation was just right for it. But now, I feel so drawn to set out and take pictures specifically to make them B&W! There are a few things you need to know before setting out to take B&W photos, which is why I would recommend getting the full issue of Digital Photo Magazine, which covers taking, editing, and printing B&W photos! However, if you aren't able to pick up a copy, click here to see the article on taking pictures for B&W and click here to see the article on optimizing your prints of B&W photos!

While taking the picture is probably the most important part to getting a quality B&W picture, how to make the best of post processing your photo into B&W is also a great thing to know!

I hope you enjoyed this post! You can see the rest of my current B&W pictures(and keep up with future ones) by clicking here! Thanks for reading! Until next time!(:

New Model Car!

Been meaning to post this, but I kept forgetting. Here's a new model car I got from my brother for Christmas! It's a '49 Mercury(one of my dad's favorites!) I'm really excited about this one! Can't wait to start working with it and share it with you when I'm done! Until then!(:
